26th June 2013 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

During this visit we inspected the regulatory activities of treatment of disease, disorder and injury, diagnostic and screening and surgical procedures.

Everyone we spoke with said they were happy with care provided at the clinic. One person told us the dentist "Always took his time with explanations and answering questions." Patients were referred to the NHS community dental service or other dental services as needed with their knowledge and involvement. People's diverse needs were taken into account to ensure their safety and welfare.

Staff were familiar with the clinic policies on safeguarding children and vulnerable adults. The practice had a designated lead in this area and staff had been trained to respond appropriately if they suspected abuse.

The practice was clean and well maintained. Systems were in place, such as staff training, infection control procedures and audits to ensure the spread of infection was reduced.

We saw evidence to indicate appropriate recruitment checks were undertaken before staff began work.
