9th July 2014 - During an inspection to make sure that the improvements required had been made pdf icon

During our visit to Dr K Saeed and Associate Dental Surgeons we spoke with the compliance co-ordinator for Southern Dental, the practice manager, and three members of staff. We spoke with six patients and looked at eight sets of patient records.

Patients we spoke with were very happy with the service they received at the practice. Patients felt involved in their treatment and were given information to make informed decisions regarding their treatment options. One patient said, “I’m very happy that the dentist takes the time to explain my treatment”. Patients said their permission was sought before any treatment commenced, and we saw patients had a treatment plan which they signed as consent to the treatment and costs.

Patients we spoke with told us the practice was always clean and tidy. Infection control guidance was followed to reduce the risk of infection. The practice was awaiting a legionella risk assessment.

Staff told us they were supported to carry out their roles. We saw staff received training specific to their job.

The practice had systems in place to seek regular feedback from patients to enable them to improve the service it offered. The practice had carried out some audits to monitor quality and improve the service.
