6th February 2014 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

We spoke with three people who used the service and the parent of one person. People told us that the dentist explained the treatment options to them and explained the benefits and risks of each option. One person told us, "I was here for almost an hour whilst [the dentist] went through all the options. I decided which option was best."

People told us that they were very happy with the treatment they had received. One person told us that the service was, "...brilliant." Another person told us, "The staff are friendly. They're nice."

We saw that the service had an appraisal system in place for the dental practitioners and held regular staff meetings at which staff discussed the service's policies and procedures.

On the day of our inspection the premises were clean and bright. The service's infection control policy included information on hand hygiene, the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), decontamination of treatment areas, decontamination room procedures and end of day routines.

The service had completed a survey of people who had used the service in January 2014. All the people who had responded had rated the service as good or very good. Comments received included, "...very friendly, professional service."
