22nd May 2013 - During an inspection to make sure that the improvements required had been made pdf icon

At our previous inspection we saw that effective recruitment and selection processes were not in place. At this inspection we saw that improvements had been made. A new person had been employed and they had gone through an effective recruitment and selection process. This meant that people were kept safe from the risk of harm because they were cared for by suitably qualified, skilled and experienced staff.

At our previous inspection we saw that the provider did not have an effective system to regularly assess and monitor the quality of service that people received. At this inspection we saw that the provider had reviewed their systems and that learning had taken place. Appropriate changes were made to the service because the provider had taken account of people’s comments.

31st January 2013 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

We spoke with five people who used the service and three members of staff. People told us they were happy with the care and treatment provided. One person told us, “I have no complaints about my care whatsoever”. Another person told us, “The dentist always explains what treatment needs doing and explains what choices are available to me”.

People told us they were involved in the planning of their treatment and were treated with care and respect. We observed people being communicated with in a professional and friendly manner.

Care and treatment was based upon guidelines and individual need. We saw that people were cared for and treated by staff who had the appropriate knowledge and skills.

During our inspection the practice appeared clean and tidy. We observed staff following policies and procedures to protect people from the risks associated with infections.

We saw that effective recruitment and selection processes were not in place and that the provider did not have an effective system to identify, assess and manage risks to the health, safety and welfare of people using the service.
