We saw patients were cared for in a clean and comfortable environment and the four patients we spoke with were satisfied with the dental service. Positive comments included "It is a very professionally run place", and "It's the best dentist I have been to." One patient told us the staff took an interest in them and there was a rapport which made them less anxious about having treatment.

Patients told us members of staff were friendly, polite and respectful. Systems were in place to assess their needs and they told us they obtained enough information about treatment options and were involved in decisions. They told us that explanations were good and they were asked for their consent before treatment was carried out. They had no complaints.

Guidance was in place for the prevention and control of infection included decontamination in line with national guidance. Systems had recently been revised to improve monitoring and recording. Staff had been trained in infection control and received regular refreshers to ensure their knowledge and practices were up to date.

Systems were in place to ensure the quality of the service was regularly monitored and records were updated to document checks. Arrangements were in place and being developed to ensure patients were regularly consulted and their comments taken into account. The provider had recently introduced a formal system to document staff training and work was in progress to improve this.
