1st November 2013 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

We spoke with three patients who had attended the surgery on the day of our inspection. They were all happy with the dental care and treatment they received. One patient said, " I have to say I am very pleased". Another said, "It's first class." The patients told us that the dentists always explained things to them and that they felt they could make informed decisions about their treatment. They said they usually knew how much their treatment would cost and were given a written treatment plan.

The practice had policies and procedures in place for safeguarding vulnerable adults and children. We spoke with one dentist, the practice manager and the dental nurse. All of them understood the relevance of safeguarding children and vulnerable adults in dentistry. This meant that patients who used the service were protected from the risk of abuse.

The practice had effective policies and procedures in place for controlling the risk of infection. We observed that the treatment rooms in the practice were kept clean and hygienic. One patient said, “It’s very clean and comfortable.”
