Letter from the Chief Inspector of General Practice
We carried out an announced comprehensive inspection at Trinity and Bowthorpe Surgery on 11 September 2015. Overall the practice is rated as good.We found the practice to be safe, effective, caring, responsive to people’s needs and well-led. The quality of care experienced by older people, by people with long term conditions and by families, children and young people is good. Working age people, those in vulnerable circumstances and people experiencing poor mental health also receive good quality care.Our key findings were as follows:

17th February 2014 - During a routine inspection
Staff members said that the practice took steps to ensure that patients were respected and involved. We were told that the design of the premises meant that consulting rooms were away from reception and waiting areas, to ensure that discussions were confidential and could not be overheard. Health professionals explained how they gave information to patients and how they discussed possible options when these were available. One patient told us "I can't fault the place. They treat me like a person." Computerised records were completed in a consistent style and gave clear information about each patient and the consultations that had been carried out. The system for registering new patients ensured that those with ongoing health care needs could be assessed quickly by a GP. We noted that the practice offered evening appointments every Monday and also operated a Saturday morning clinic. A patient said "You can always speak to someone if you need to." This showed that the practice had made reasonable adjustments to reflect the needs of its patients. Staff members were able to tell us about how they would raise concerns if they suspected that a patient may be at risk of abuse. The practice had good links with the local safeguarding team. Safeguarding issues could be discussed at the practice's daily mid-morning meeting. A range of audits was in place to evaluate various aspects of the practice. On the day of our inspection the practice was undergoing a medications audit.
