25th October 2012 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

On the day of our inspection there was one dental surgery running. We spoke with three people in the waiting room within the practice. Everybody we spoke with talked positively about the care and treatment they had received at the practice. One person said "I’m quite happy (with my treatment).” All of the people we spoke with said they had no grounds for complaint.

We found people were involved in making decisions about their treatment and consent was gained before treatment commenced.

There were effective systems in place to reduce the risk and spread of infection.

People we spoke with said they were very happy with the way they were treated by the staff employed by the practice. One person said “The dentist remembered that I was a bit worried about needles” and went on to explain they had been put at ease by the way they had been treated.

We found staff had the relevant qualifications, knowledge, skills and experience to carry out their role and were registered with the relevant professional body where appropriate.

People were made aware of the practice’s complaints procedure and any complaints made were fully investigated and resolved, as far as possible, to the satisfaction of the complainant.
