8th November 2012 - During an inspection in response to concerns pdf icon

During our inspection we spoke with three people who used the service and four members of staff. We saw that staff were able to deliver care and treatment safely due to the audits and checks in place. The surgery had assurance systems in place to monitor the quality of treatment and to gain the views of the people who used the service.

Overall, the people we spoke with were very happy with the service they received. One person said “I’ve been coming here for decades. The dentist always discusses the treatment options, I feel I have a choice. There was one occasion I had to make a complaint, but they listened and it was dealt with very well."

Another person told us “The dentist suggests treatments, and I get instructions on how to care for my teeth when I get home. The surgery always appears clean to me, and I see the staff using gloves and masks. They send me a questionnaire as well for my views.” We spoke with one person who told us “I’ve had quite a lot of treatment done recently. The work’s been good and I’ve not had any pain. The dentist did talk with me about treatment options, he gave me choices.”

We observed staff interacting with people in a polite and understanding manner. People were cared for in a clean environment and there were systems in place to reduce the risk of infection.
