30th July 2013 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

People were given appropriate information and support regarding their care or treatment. Written treatment plans were provided, which explained details of people’s planned treatment. One person told us that the dentist always explained things to their children in a way that was easy to understand.

People's needs were assessed and treatment was planned and delivered in line with their individual treatment plan. People we spoke with commented positively about the care and treatment they had received. They told us it was easy to make appointments and waiting times at the practice were minimal. One person said, “I am seen at the time of my appointment and I don’t have to wait.”

There were effective systems in place to reduce the risk and spread of infection. We saw people were protected from the risk of infection because appropriate guidance was available and had been followed. People we spoke with told us the practice was always very clean and staff always wore protective clothing when treating them. One person said, “I am given a bib and glasses to wear when I receive my treatment.”

Staff received appropriate professional development. We saw staff had accessed various training so they could meet people’s needs and maintain their qualifications.

The practice had an effective well organised system to regularly assess and monitor the quality of service that people received. It also had a complaints policy and took account of complaints and comments to improve the service.
