3rd May 2013 - During a routine inspection
We spoke with two patients about the treatment they had received that day. One patient expressed satisfaction that they had been seen straight away, without an appointment. They added that the dentist "explained everything well" and that they had recommended the dentist to other people. We looked at questionnaires completed by patients and found some favourable comments. We found that the procedures for cleaning and sterilising instruments were adequate, although the provider had action to take to meet best practice in this area. We found that Blackley Dental Practice was not operating and/or not documenting effective recruitment procedures and did not have available information about employees required under the regulations.
1st January 1970 - During an inspection to make sure that the improvements required had been made
This inspection was to check that improvements relating to recruitment procedures and the documentation held for staff had been made following our inspection of 3 May 2013. We saw evidence that recently recruited staff had provided a full employment history, evidence of their identity and evidence of their qualifications. References from previous employers had been provided. We saw that all personnel files contained photographic identification for the staff member. Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks had been carried out appropriately. Checks had been carried out to ensure all dentists and dental nurses were correctly registered with the General Dental Council (GDC).
