1st January 1970 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

We saw that patients were treated by courteous staff and students. We saw that information about treatment options and costs were on display in the waiting area. People told us that the students were extremely pleasant and that they delivered a good service. People who had treatment were informed throughout. One person said, "They are very good".

Records held by the practice showed that the medical history of patient's was considered before treatment was carried out. They showed that screening procedures and checks were carried out during consultations. We found that the provider had processes to deal with foreseeable medical emergencies and the clinic maintained all the necessary equipment needed to deal with any such situation.

The clinic had procedures to ensure that the risk of cross contamination and infection were managed and minimised and that equipment was sterilised, stored appropriately and used within the specified timescales. Patients were treated in an environment that was clean and hygienic. One person we spoke with said, "I've never had any concerns in fact I think they are sometimes overly cautious in terms of cleanliness and hygiene".

When we looked at the recruitment process, we found that students were supported by appropriately skilled and qualified staff and that appropriate pre employment checks had been carried out.

There was an effective complaints system available and we found that complaints people made were responded to appropriately.
