13th February 2014 - During a routine inspection
We spoke with three people who used the service. People told us they felt safe, protected and their needs were met. One person said, “All the staff here are courteous and considerate and a real asset to the hospital. They provide a professional service in a calm, reassuring and unassuming way.” We looked at eight people’s care and treatment records. People’s needs were assessed and care and treatment was planned and delivered in line with their individual needs. Before people received any care or treatment they were asked for their consent and the provider acted in accordance with their wishes. We saw that systems and procedures were in place to ensure the safety; availability and suitability of the equipment provided. During our inspection we saw that staff interacted with people in a caring, respectful and professional manner. We looked at staff records and spoke with three members of staff who told us they were being appropriately supervised and supported. We looked at the way that complaints were recorded and dealt with, and saw that they were handled in line with the provider's policy.
22nd January 2013 - During a routine inspection
People’s diversity, values and human rights were respected. People who used the service were given appropriate information and support regarding their care and treatments. Information leaflets were readily available for all treatments provided in the unit. People who used the service were protected against the risk of abuse, because the provider had taken reasonable steps to identify the possibility of abuse and prevent abuse from happening. We saw that all people's needs were assessed and care and treatment was planned and delivered in line with their individual needs. The current records were not consistently used by all practitioners and the manager told us that the records were currently under review. Staffing levels were appropriate and were based on the needs of the service and the people who were cared for. They worked on the ratio of one staff member to one person undergoing a radiological procedure. An effective system to regularly assess and monitor the quality of the service people received was in place. Regular quality assurance procedures and clinical protocols were carried out on the environment and both scanners.
