9th January 2014 - During a routine inspection
We spoke with five patients who were attending for examination and/or treatment at the time of our visit to the practice. All patients we spoke with complimented the practice on the quality of care and treatment provided. One patient said "This is a friendly practice. They really seem to care about you”. Another patient told us "There is no problem in getting an appointment to suit. The receptionist goes out of their way to help”, “I have used other practices but this is definitely the most friendly”. Another patient said “They always tell you what needs to be done in terms you understand. Costs are explained, nothing is hidden.” We saw from the records that consent was sought from patients appropriately before any treatment began. The records evidenced clear information was provided to patients about treatment options and the various costs involved. Patients told us staff explained the risk and benefits of various treatments and provided details of the expected outcome. We saw patients’ medical and dental health needs were accurately documented in their records and updated at each visit. We saw the practice was clean and hygienic and the staff followed appropriate infection control procedures. Staff told us they felt well supported by management and were offered appropriate refresher training at regular intervals. Patients were asked about their views about the service. Complaints and suggestions were listened to and acted upon.
