11th December 2013 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

We did not have the opportunity to speak with any people using the service during our visit but did see that consultation with people about their treatments took place in the privacy of the individual surgeries.

On arrival at the practice we observed that all patients were given a pleasant welcome and were spoken to with respect and politeness by all members of staff. Many of the interactions were on a first name basis and we heard staff confirming and obtaining signatures of consent to treatment (either NHS or private).

We looked at a sample of patients records, which were a combination of paper and electronic. Of those records we examined, we found them to be complete and up to date. We saw that patients' medical histories and treatment plans were regularly reviewed and updated.

We saw that there was resuscitation and emergency equipment available in line with best practice guidance which was checked regularly by the practice manager.

We found that there was a purpose built decontamination room and processes were seen to be followed and hygiene procedures were adhered to by staff, to minimise the risk of cross infection.

Records seen and staff spoken with, confirmed that all staff received appropriate support and training to enable them to carry out their job roles effectively.

We saw that there were effective systems in place for monitoring service delivery.
