21st January 2013 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

During our inspection we spoke with eight patients. We spoke with five staff members; these were the practice manager, the principal dental practitioner, an associate, a newly appointed dental nurse and the receptionist.

We also took information from other sources to help us understand the views of people who used the service, which included a satisfaction survey and meeting minutes.

The patients we spoke with told us they thought they received good dental treatment from the dentists. They were confident in their abilities and told us if they were anxious about receiving dental treatment then the dentist was sensitive and considerate. One patient told us “I hate the dentist but I feel comfortable coming here. I don’t even get nervous now.” Another patient we spoke with told us “I have been coming here for over five years and I am very happy with the service. I have no complaints.”

The practice was following appropriate guidance in relation to infection control and the staff were well trained and supported.

One member of staff we spoke with told us “This is a well run practice with happy patients. Everything runs smoothly as the practice manager is very efficient and if something needs to be done, it will be done.” Another member of staff we spoke with told us “I don’t like dentists so I can empathise with terrified patients and put them at ease before they have treatment.”
