6th December 2013 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

One person told us, “I am happy with the support and attention shown here, and if l have any questions these are answered fully.” This and the evidence seen showed us that people’s privacy, dignity and independence were respected.

People were happy with the explanation of the treatment options available to them and the dental care subsequently provided. The dental records seen showed us that care and treatment was planned and delivered in a way that was intended to ensure people's safety and welfare.

Staff had a good understanding of their responsibilities around safeguarding and were confident that they would know what to do if they observed any potential abuse. This meant that people who used the service were protected from the risk of abuse, because the provider had taken reasonable steps to identify the possibility of abuse and prevent abuse from happening.

We noted that the practice had scored 94% in an infection control audit carried out in 2012 by Lincolnshire Primary Care Trust and that any identified actions were addressed. This and the other evidence seen showed us that people were protected from the risk of infection because appropriate guidance had been followed.

The individual treatment records seen demonstrated that these were reviewed upon each appointment and discussed with the person who used the service. This meant that the provider had an effective system to regularly assess and monitor the quality of service that people received.
