11th October 2013 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

We spoke with three patients during our inspection visit. All were complimentary about the quality of care provided by the practice. One person said “I would definitely recommend this dentist. Staff are very friendly.” Another person said “They always ask me lots of questions before they start to examine me. I don’t feel so nervous then.” One person told us “I came across the practice as I walked into town. They were so friendly I made an appointment.” One person said “I like the style of the practice not too clinical.”

Patients told us the receptionists were warm and friendly and dentists and nurses were highly professional. People told us they felt informed and involved in discussions about their care. Their treatment plan was always clearly explained to them. People told us the dentists always explained the risks and benefits of various treatments. Patients said they were always provided with a written estimate of the cost of treatment. People told us they were always asked to sign a consent form before treatment was provided.

The nurses told us they felt well supported by management and had opportunities to keep their training up-to-date. We saw files that contained details and certificates of training which had been undertaken by the staff.

We received positive comments about the appointment system, competence and professionalism of staff and the level of information provided when patients attended the practice.
