As well as providing general dental care Novocare Dental surgery offer private treatment using conscious sedation techniques. As this is a specialist area we carried out a review over two visits and involved an expert in the use of dental sedation techniques, in relation to dental procedures, in our second visit, which took place on 12 March 2012, a number of concerns were identified. The provider submitted an action plan telling us how they were going to make the necessary improvements. We have now undertaken a follow up visit to review the action taken by the provider.

We did not have the opportunity to speak with patients as part of this follow up review.

During our visit to Novocare Dental practice, on 15 February 2012, we were able to speak to three people visiting the practice. They told us they were happy with the service they had received and found the staff to be reassuring. One person told us that the dentist, they had just seen, was very good with children.

As Novocare Dental practice offers people dental treatment using conscious sedation techniques, we included a dental sedation expert in this review. They were present when we carried out a further unannounced visit to the practice on 12 March 2012.
