29th August 2014 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

The provider employed another dentist, three dental nurses and a receptionist. On the day of the inspection we spoke with three patients, the dentist (provider) and the two staff working.

Patients we spoke with said they were highly satisfied with the their treatment. One patient told us "I've been coming for years. I've moved away and don't mind coming back. They [staff] are all friendly." Another patient said " it's very good [the practice]. They are easy to get on with. I used to be anxious and I don't mind coming here."

Patients were aware of their treatment costs and were involved in their dental plan. They told us they had no difficulty getting an appointment.

The dentist ensured patients' care and treatment was safe and effective. There were emergency equipment and drugs available.

The staff we spoke with were aware of their roles and responsibilities with regards to protecting patients.

We observed the practice was visibly clean, well lit and modern. The provider had procedures to promote cleanliness and reduce infection.

Staff said they were well supported and enjoyed working at the practice. We saw from training records all staff attended essential training such as basic life support.

The provider had a system to manage complaints.
