22nd January 2014 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

Following our inspection of the service we spoke with four people by telephone who had received treatment at the practice on the day of our visit. They were all complimentary about the service and treatment they had received at North Hill Dental Practice and said that they would recommend the practice to family and friends. Comments included: "They are extremely competent, they put me at ease which I have not found elsewhere” and “Everybody is very professional and friendly, they have a very nice manner. I am completely happy with the service.” Another person said: “I would give it 10 out of 10.”

Everyone told us that they understood the care and treatment choices available to them and were aware of their treatment plan and associated costs. They all felt very involved in their treatment. One person said: "I am always told what is happening and what needs to be done.”

We found that the surgery was clean and tidy and that staff understood the cleaning procedures to be followed. One person told us: “The place is spotless.” Another person said: “It is immaculate.”

We saw that there were effective systems in place to reduce the risk and spread of cross infection.

The staff were appropriately trained and supported. The provider had systems in place to ensure the quality and safety of the service provided but these needed to be developed further.
