22nd February 2013 - During a routine inspection
The practice staff were very friendly welcoming and informative. The practice was very clean and well maintained. There were effective systems in place to reduce the risk of infection. The decontamination took place within the surgeries. Staff were able to describe the decontamination process to us and provide evidence to show that the correct checks were carried out on the equipment used for decontamination. We spoke to three patients who used the service and they told us that they had had their treatment fully explained to them and any alternative options also explained to them and understood that their treatment was being provided on the NHS. The patients had consented to treatment and the staff were well trained and caring. The practice have bi monthly staff meetings which are formal with agendas and documented minutes, we saw that the practice was well organised and patients were consulted about their views of the service. The practice had carried out a patient survey which showed very good satisfaction overall. We looked at some of the comments patients made which included 'My family and I have been patients of the dentist for many years and are very happy with him and his services' and 'Good environment and excellent service'.
