3rd October 2013 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

On the day following our visit we were able to speak with three people who had attended the practice for a number of years.

They said they were pleased with the service provided and had never had reason to raise a concern or make a complaint. One person described the practice as “unbelievably fantastic.” Another person said of the dentists “they are both nice and make you feel at ease.”

People told us they were involved in all decisions relating to their treatment. They said they were asked whether there had been medical changes the dentist would need to be aware of.

People said they could make appointments easily and they were greeted by polite and friendly staff. One person said they had attended many emergency appointments and had always been seen promptly.

We were able to talk with both of the dentists and the dental nurse.

The practice had policies and procedures in place to ensure children and vulnerable adults were protected. The provider was the lead person for safeguarding at the practice and also provided training for the rest of the team.

The dental nurse explained how infection control was managed within the practice. They told us they had received infection control training as part of their qualification course work and attended on-going training. We saw there had been considerable work carried out at the practice to improve facilities for people.

We saw staff received annual appraisals. The dental nurse said they were well supported by the provider/dentist and the dentist. The provider said communication within the practice “was good.”

Systems were in place to respond to any concerns or complaints. People’s views on the service had been sought by satisfaction surveys and feedback forms.
