22nd February 2012 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

People who use the service told us they received a very good explanation of their care and treatment including the options and costs involved. They said they were asked to consent to their treatment and any questions they had were answered. They said they felt very involved in their care and treatment. They felt their privacy was respected and that staff were friendly and helpful. They told us that they were given information and advice by staff and knew that other sources of information were available to them. Most of the people we spoke with knew about questionnaires they could complete to feedback on the service. The people we spoke with had not had cause to raise any concerns but felt confident in speaking with the staff if they needed to although they weren’t sure if that was the formal procedure.

People told us they had completed a registration form and a medical history form when they first started using the service. They said that at their first appointment the dentist had discussed their medical history including allergies and medication and completed a full dental examination. They said their medical history was reviewed on each visit. The people we spoke with said they found making and rescheduling appointments a straightforward process and felt they were able to get the appointments they wanted. They said they were seen quickly when they had a dental emergency.

People said they found the environment and equipment very clean and well maintained. They told us that staff would always wear gloves and face masks during their care and treatment and some people had noticed how staff were always bare below the elbows (wearing no clothing or jewellery below the elbows).

One person described her experience of the service as: “A very good experience that I would highly recommend. Everything is spotless and the dentist has been very good at putting me at ease”. Another person said: “It all feels very easy coming here even in comparison to other private practices I’ve used”.
