18th January 2013 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

During our inspection on 18 January 2013 we spoke with three people who were attending Market Hill Dental Care for treatment. One person said, “I had treatment today and the dentist explained what they were going to do and told me about the choices available to me”. Another person said of their family experience, "I feel that the treatment we have each received has been planned and was given in a person centred way. We have all had good care and the dentist has been sympathetic and considerate of our different needs".

People's medical records showed their care had been planned and their treatment had been recorded in detail. Emergency care had been suitably prepared for, with an emergency kit at the ready and staff trained in CPR and the use of the emergency equipment.

Some improvements to the safeguarding policy and staff safeguarding training for vulnerable adults are anticipated to be made by the provider.

Suitable infection control protocols and self-auditing systems were in place which had ensured that cross infection risks had been appropriately managed and had followed the Department of Health (DoH) published guidelines.

The premises were very clean and had been well maintained. Fire safety and prevention arrangements were suitable to ensure the building and people had been protected from the risks of fire.
