10th January 2014 - During a routine inspection
During our inspection we spoke with seven people who were visiting the practice and on the telephone. People spoken with were very complimentary about how the service was provided. The provider had been running the practice since March 2013. A high proportion of their patients had transferred from their previous practice. One person said “it’s great, excellent”. Another person said “100% as far as I am concerned”. People told us they were confident in their dentist’s ability to provide quality dental treatment. One person said “the dentist is very good, very gentle and I feel confident that he knows what he is doing”. People told us all staff were helpful and polite when they visited the practice. One person said “it’s a lovely practice, they are really friendly”. People told us they could express their views and were given appropriate support and information to make informed treatment choices. One person said “it was explained very clearly and he spends more time with you”. We spoke with one of the dentists and two dental nurses who were employed by the service. Dental staff had a good understanding of their role in protecting vulnerable adults and children from abuse. We saw staff followed infection control guidance to ensure people using the service were protected from the risk of acquiring an infection. There were appropriate procedures in place to ensure staff were able to assist people quickly in a medical emergency, if one arose. The provider had systems in place to monitor and assess the quality of the service.
