15th November 2012 - During an inspection to make sure that the improvements required had been made
A patient we spoke with confirmed that he had given written consent to treatment as part of the treatment plan and they showed us a copy to demonstrate this. During this visit we found that the provider had improved the assessment of patients. We found that since our inspection the provider had introduced new patient assessment records. The practice had systems in place including current policies and procedures in regards to infection prevention and control. Procedures included the use of daily checklists for cleaning and safe systems of work. The practice had attained positive feedback from external infection control audits which showed that they were complying with relevant guidance on best practice. During this visit we were told that the justification for antibiotics was recorded in the patient’s record card, together with dose, frequency and quantity. Medicines were prescribed and given to people appropriately. The records had improved in terms of being clearer, more accurate and in greater detail about the patients medical and health needs. Following our previous visit the practice had worked with a quality monitoring company as well as the local commissioners to ensure that regular and robust processes were in place to monitor and evaluate the quality and of treatment.

1st January 1970 - During a routine inspection
We carried out this announced inspection on 13 July 2017 under Section 60 of the Health and Social Care Act 2008 as part of our regulatory functions. We planned the inspection to check whether the registered provider was meeting the legal requirements in the Health and Social Care Act 2008 and associated regulations. The inspection was led by a CQC inspector who was supported by a specialist dental adviser.
We told the NHS England Cheshire and Merseyside area team that we were inspecting the practice. They provided information which we took into account.
To get to the heart of patients’ experiences of care and treatment we always ask the following five questions:
• Is it safe?
• Is it effective?
• Is it caring?
• Is it responsive to people’s needs?
• Is it well-led?
These questions form the framework for the areas we look at during the inspection.
