One person told us that, “The staff treat me with respect and observe my dignity, and they treat me well”. This and the other evidence that we reviewed showed us that people’s privacy, dignity and independence were respected by this hospital.

We reviewed six care records in detail and these all included initial admission assessments, risk assessments personalised to the needs of the patient and a care plan based on these assessments. This showed us that care and treatment was planned and delivered in a way that was intended to ensure people's safety and welfare.

The care and treatment pathways seen showed us that the provider worked closely with Norfolk Social Services and NHS primary care and acute hospital services. This showed us that people’s health, safety and welfare was protected when more than one provider was involved in their treatment.

Staff told us the steps that they would take if they suspected that abuse was taking place and that these concerns would be escalated appropriately. This showed us that people who use the service were protected from the risk of abuse, because the provider had taken reasonable steps to identify the possibility of abuse and prevent abuse from happening.

Those staff spoken with confirmed that they were up-to-date with their mandatory training and felt well supported by senior ward based staff. This showed us that people were cared for by staff who were supported to deliver treatment safely and to an appropriate standard.
