12th June 2013 - During a routine inspection
People told us they were supported to make decisions about giving consent to the care and treatment they received. We found that staff were aware of the processes for gaining and recording consent to treatment and the sharing of information. People currently using the service gave us good feedback about their experiences at the unit. Their comments included; "I’ve been close to giving up a few times but the staff here got me through it". "I can't fault them, they have saved my life". Another person said;” ''Staff have all been great, I wouldn't have coped without them'' People were cared for by staff who had undergone appropriate pre employment checks, in line with NHS employment requirements, before they started working at the unit. A complaints procedure was in place to enable people using the service and visitors to complain if they were dissatisfied with the care or treatment they had received.
