Before people received any care or treatment, they were asked for their consent and the provider acted in accordance with their wishes. Where people did not have the capacity to consent, the provider acted in accordance with legal requirements. One patient told us, “they normally discuss my treatment with me and I give them consent before they proceed”. Care and treatment was planned and delivered in a way that was intended to ensure people's safety and welfare. We spoke with two patients who used the practice about their experience of Hoo Dental Care. They told us that they liked the practice. They commented, "I have been using this practice for several years and I can assure you they are very good. They are very pleasant”. “They are very good, polite and truthful. No treatment is given if not needed”. People who used the service were protected from the risk of abuse, because the provider had taken reasonable steps to identify the possibility of abuse and prevent abuse from happening. There were effective systems in place to reduce the risk and spread of infection. Appropriate checks were not undertaken before staff began work. The provider had an effective system to regularly assess and monitor the quality of service that people received. People had their comments and complaints listened to and acted on, without the fear that they would be discriminated against for making a complaint.
