19th April 2013 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

Before people received any care or treatment they were asked for their consent and the provider acted in accordance with their wishes. We spoke with the practice manager, a dentist and three other staff working at the service about how they obtained the consent of people who used the service. They explained to us they had a policy in place and used this information to explain information and obtain peoples consent prior to treatment being delivered.

We examined five peoples dental records and saw that an up to date medical history was recorded on each visit to the surgery prior to treatment being provided.

We spoke with five people who had received treatment at the time of our visit. One person said, "they're very friendly and polite" and another said "my whole family comes here and they put you at ease".

There were effective systems in place to reduce the risk and spread of infection. We found staff were supported and there were policies in place for safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults. A complaints system was in place.
