25th June 2013 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

Patients and staff said treatment options were always discussed during consultations and people were made aware of costs before proceeding with their treatment. Patients and staff said consultations took place in treatment rooms and doors were always shut to ensure people's privacy was respected. One person said the service was “extremely good”. All the patients we spoke with said they were satisfied with their treatment.

We saw the service had equipment required for potential medical emergencies. This equipment was checked regularly and emergency drugs were within their expiry dates.

We saw the treatment rooms and public areas were clean. People said they observed the treatment rooms were always clean when they went for treatment. They said staff always wore protective equipment and put on fresh gloves before treating patients.

The service met the essential requirements of decontamination. However they did not have a plan to work towards best practice.

Staff said they were supported to undertake continuing professional development. We saw staff had undertaken various training relevant to their roles as dental professionals.
