25th October 2018 - During a routine inspection
![]() We carried out this announced inspection on 25 October 2018 under Section 60 of the Health and Social Care Act 2008 as part of our regulatory functions. We planned the inspection to check whether the registered provider was meeting the legal requirements in the Health and Social Care Act 2008 and associated regulations. The inspection was led by a CQC inspector who was supported by a specialist dental adviser.
To get to the heart of patients’ experiences of care and treatment, we always ask the following five questions:

• Is it responsive to people’s needs?
• Is it well-led?
These questions form the framework for the areas we look at during the inspection.

Background
Hayes Dental Clinic is Hayes in the London Borough of Hillingdon. The practice provides NHS and private treatment to patients of all ages.
The practice is situated close to public transport bus and train services.
The dental team includes the two principal dentists who own the practice, three associate dentists, one dental hygienist, three dental nurses and one trainee dental nurse. The clinical team are supported by a receptionist and a practice manager.
The practice is owned by a partnership and as a condition of registration must have a person registered with the Care Quality Commission as the registered manager. Registered managers have legal responsibility for meeting the requirements in the Health and Social Care Act 2008 and associated regulations about how the practice is run. The registered manager at Hayes Dental Clinic was one of the principal dentists.
On the day of inspection we received feedback from 26 patients.
During the inspection we spoke with the one of practice owners, one associate dentist, one dental nurse, the practice manager and the receptionist. We looked at practice policies and procedures and other records about how the service is managed.
The practice is open:
Monday to Friday between 9am to 5.30pm.

Background
Hayes Dental Clinic is located in the London Borough of Hillingdon and provides NHS and private dental treatment to both adults and children. The premises are on the first floor and consist of two treatment rooms, a reception area and a dedicated decontamination room. The practice is open Monday to Friday 9:00am – 5:00pm.
The staff consists of the principal dentist, three associate dentists, one dental hygienist, one dental nurse, three dental nurses who were also receptionist.
The principal dentist is the registered manager. A registered manager is a person who is registered with the Care Quality Commission to manage the service. Like registered providers, they are ‘registered persons’. Registered persons have legal responsibility for meeting the requirements in the Health and Social Care Act 2008 and associated Regulations about how the practice is run.
We reviewed 41 CQC comment cards and results of the NHS Friends and Family test. Patients were positive about the service. They were complimentary about the friendly and caring attitude of the staff.
The inspection took place over one day and was carried out by a CQC inspector and a dental specialist advisor
