11th January 2013 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

We spoke with five people who used the service. All spoke positively about the standard of dental care they received. One person said, “It’s always been very good.” Another person told us that they found their dentist to be, “Very thorough.”

People said they received a warm welcome from staff and who put them at their ease. Several people commented on how good staff were in supporting nervous patients. One person commented on the, “Nice atmosphere,” telling us that, “Staff do what they can to relax people who aren’t happy coming in (to see a dentist).”

We asked people if they would recommend the service to others. They told us they would. One person said, “Yes I would, especially for nervous patients.” We observed staff support people with their dental phobias with empathy and compassion.

People told us they felt respected by staff and were fully involved in the decisions about their dental care and treatment. They told us they were given information on how much their treatment would cost, and that staff sought their consent before carrying out the work. We saw that the provider’s website also included information on payment options and guarantees.

We observed that the reception and clinical areas were clean and tidy. As we gave short notice of our inspection, we asked people if they always found it to be of the same standard. They told us it did. One person told us, “It always looks fresh and clean, all areas, loo is immaculate as well.”
