12th March 2013 - During an inspection to make sure that the improvements required had been made
We carried out this inspection to check whether previous shortfalls in the quality assurance systems in place within the practice had been addressed. These issues had been identified during our last inspection of the service on 19 November 2012. At this inspection we found the provider had introduced new systems designed to identify, assess and manage risks related to the health, welfare and safety of patients who received care and treatment at the practice. Staff confirmed that new procedures were in place and these had been explained to them by the provider. We did not discuss the quality assurance systems in place with patients of this dental practice at this follow up inspection. We found the provider had taken action since our last inspection to ensure that people were protected against the risks associated with inappropriate or unsafe care or treatment and improvements had been made.
19th November 2012 - During a routine inspection
People told us they were very happy with the dental care and treatment they received from Guidepost Dental Practice. One person said, "I think the word fantastic is the word I would use to describe this dentist. They were great when I had some treatment recently." Another person said, "I have no problems whatsoever. The staff are always polite, friendly and courteous. I always get a good service." We found that people were involved in their care and were given information and choices about treatment options. People's dental care and treatment needs were assessed and their treatment was planned. We saw that people were cared for in a clean and hygienic environment and infection control was appropriately managed. Staff were trained to an appropriate standard and were supported by the provider to deliver care and treatment to people safely. However, although people told us they were very happy with the service they received and we saw that they were well supported, we found that failures to assess and monitor the quality of the service provided, might put people at risk.
