26th February 2013 - During a routine inspection
We found a modern well maintained environment. We found leaflets and information was available in the waiting area on procedures available within the practice. We found there were five surgeries available to dentists. Treatments records were electronic and we sampled five patient records. We saw that patients completed a health declaration prior to any consultation with the dentist and before commencing any treatment. The practice has five practicing dentists, one oral surgeon, five qualified and three trainee dental nurses, working within the service alongside the practice manager. The practice offers a full range of treatments. The practice was primarily for NHS patients but offers private consultation and treatment. Patients told us; "I have always had a fear of dentists since a child until I came here. They put me at ease and explain everything they are going to do I then sign confirming my consent to the treatment”. “Things are fully explained with different options given”, “I’m very pleased with the service I get here”. We observed staff treating people in a respectful and dignified manner. Staff told us; “This is a lovely place to work, everyone is so friendly”, “I really love it here, the varied nature of the job".
2nd March 2012 - During a routine inspection
Patients described the staff as 'kind', 'respectful' and 'supportive'. We were told "Everything was explained to me". Patients said that they were given time to decide whether or not to go ahead with any treatment, with one patient saying "I was advised but it was my choice". Patients told us that they thought the dental practice was clean, and they said their procedures were carried out in a clean environment. We were told that staff washed their hands frequently, and patients were provided protective aprons and goggles to use during their treatments and procedures. Responses from the 2012 patient's survey indicated that patients were satisfied with the quality of care they received. One patient commented "It's fantastic treatment".
