Family Dental Care was a friendly and professionally managed dental service providing NHS and private dentistry to adults and children. The practice provided a wide range of information about dental services and treatment costs. During our visit people we spoke with told us they were satisfied with the information they received about treatment options and costs. One person said "I like the way the dentist explains things to me". We observed that care and treatment was planned and delivered in a way that was intended to ensure people’s safety and welfare. We saw that effective infection control systems were maintained to reduce the risk and spread of infection and there were arrangements in place to deal with foreseeable emergencies. People we spoke with commented on the cleanliness of the practice one person said "It is very clean the treatment rooms are spotless". Records we reviewed demonstrated that there were effective recruitment and selection processes in place and that staff were recruited following a robust selection procedure which included relevant pre-employment checks. We saw that practice improvement audits were carried out and changes implemented as a result.
