8th January 2014 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

We spoke with four patients during our visit to the service. They told us they were satisfied with the service provided and felt staff were kind, courteous and professional. One patient said, “They are very accommodating. Staff are friendly and kind. They provide me with choices of treatment, but I rely on their expertise to guide me.” Another person told us, “They are very gentle. The practice is always spotlessly clean. I would highly recommend them.”

People told us the dentists gave them various treatment options and explained the different costs involved. They said the dentists provided written estimates. One person told us "They are always very fair and I trust their judgement. I am given the costs and choose treatment that meets my budget".

People told us they felt the practice gave them sufficient information to inform their decisions. Patients said they were encouraged to ask questions and the dentists' explanations were detailed and easy to understand.

We saw records of consent to care and treatment signed by patients. We saw detailed records of dental examination and observed that all patients' records contained well documented medical information, including full dental charts and treatment plans.

We saw the practice had a quality assurance system in place and staff took a pro-active role in seeking feedback from patients about their experiences. A recent survey confirmed that people were “happy” with the quality of services provided.
