27th March 2013 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

Due to the nature of the service we were not able to talk with people who used the service. We looked at feedback forms that had been completed and returned to the service to gain people’s views and opinions. We spoke with members of staff who worked in the office and on the ambulances.

We saw that feedback from people was complimentary and comments included, “I cannot fault the service”, “I was well looked after” and “I felt safe during my journey”.

Staff we spoke with were knowledgeable about the procedures of the service. They demonstrated their understanding of how to treat people with dignity and respect. They understood the importance of managing risks to ensure people were transported safely.

We saw that there were systems in place to ensure that all the equipment used was safe, available when needed and suitable for purpose. This meant that the people who used this service were protected from the risks associated with unsafe or unsuitable equipment.

Staff knew who to report to if they had any concerns about the safety of the people who used the service.

We saw that staff were trained and supervised appropriately. This demonstrated that people were cared for by staff who delivered care and treatment safely and to an appropriate standard.

There was evidence that showed us that the provider had an effective system to regularly assess and monitor the quality of service that people received.
