10th July 2013 - During a routine inspection
During our inspection we spoke to a total of seven staff; two dentists, one hygienist, three dental nurses and a receptionist. We took evidence from other sources to help us understand the needs and views of the people who used the service, including a patient satisfaction survey, minutes of staff meetings and our review of the surgery’s complaints log. We also spoke to six patients on the day of inspection. The patients we spoke with told us that they received good dental treatment at this practice. One patient told us “They are thorough, informative and I feel confident that I’m in good hands”. The dental hygienist told us “The practice supplies me with my own dental nurse who is really supportive and it’s good for patient care. I can devote all my time on the patient”. One dentist told us “I have wonderful staff who respect me and the patients, they show a genuine concern” and “we treat the patients as we would like to be treated”.Staff told us they felt supported and one member of staff told us “I absolutely love this place. I’ve never had a bad day working here". We found that the practice was following to infection control policies and staff demonstrated they had a good understanding of infection control procedures. All the staff we interviewed knew their roles in protecting vulnerable adults and children. The practice had systems in place to assess and continually review the service that it provides and was making improvements where needed.
