25th February 2014 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

During the inspection, we were able to speak with six patients, two dental nurses, two dentists and the receptionist. Patients told us that they had been fully involved in discussions with their dentist and other staff about the treatments available to them and any costs involved. The patients comments included, "Best dentist I have ever been to,” and "All the staff are fantastic, friendly and professional."

Patients felt that their privacy and dignity was respected by all staff who worked at the practice with appropriate time available for private consultation.

Patients we spoke with were pleased with the service and treatment they received. One patient told us, "You can always get an appointment in good time." Another patient said, "The staff are always friendly and helpful."

We found that people felt fully involved in their care and treatment. We saw records that confirmed that all aspects of treatment were consented to, and signed by both the patient and staff.

The surgeries were clean, hygienic with appropriate dental equipment. We saw that the service followed the procedures and policies for infection control. A patient told us, "Very good practice, the staff are kind and it always seems clean."

We looked at training certificates that showed that staff received the necessary training and skill development to help them perform their role safely and well.

Patients were cared for by staff that were supported to deliver care and treatment safely and to a good standard.

The service had effective systems in place to identify, assess and manage risks to the health, safety and welfare of patients who used the service and others.
