1st September 2019 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

We carried out an announced comprehensive inspection at David Lewis GP Service on 9 January 2019 as part of our inspection programme.

We based our judgement of the quality of care at this service on a combination of:

  • what we found when we inspected
  • information from our ongoing monitoring of data about services and
  • information from the provider, patients, carers, the public and other organisations.

We have rated this practice as good overall and good for all population groups.

We found that:

  • Staff understood and fulfilled their responsibilities to raise concerns and report incidents and near misses.
  • The practice reviewed the effectiveness and appropriateness of the care it provided. It ensured that care and treatment was delivered according to evidence- based guidelines.
  • Care and treatment was person-centred and delivered in accordance with the individual needs of each patient.
  • There were clear processes to assess a patients’ capacity to give consent and to involve appropriate individuals, including those legally appointed, in any assessments to determine care and treatment.
  • The practice respected patients’ privacy and dignity. Patients were treated with compassion and respect.
  • The practice organised and delivered services to meet the needs of its patient population. Adjustments were made to ensure patients received the care and treatment they required.
  • There was a system in place for investigating and responding to feedback from patients, carers and advocates including complaints.
  • There was a focus on continuous learning and improvement at all levels of the organisation.

Details of our findings and the evidence supporting our ratings are set out in the evidence tables.
