29th June 2017 - During a routine inspection
The inspection took place on 29 June 2017 and was unannounced. This was the first time this service had been inspected. The service provides personal care to people in their own homes in Lincolnshire. The service is provided for younger adults. At the time of our inspection there were two people receiving personal care from the service.
There was a registered manager for the service. A registered manager is a person who has registered with the Care Quality Commission to manage the service. Like registered providers, they are ‘registered persons’. Registered persons have legal responsibility for meeting the requirements in the Health and Social Care Act 2008 and associated Regulations about how the service is run. There were enough staff to meet people’s needs and the provider ensured that they had the training and support needed to provide safe care. Appropriate checks were completed before staff were allowed to work with people using the service. Staff knew how to keep people safe from abuse and how to raise concerns with the provider and with external agencies. Risks to people were identified and care was planned to keep people safe. Care plans contained all the information needed to support staff to provide personalised care. In addition staff developed a kind and caring relationship with people and encouraged them to make choices and develop their independence. People were encouraged to make choices about activities they would like to undertake. The provider had effective systems in place to monitor the quality of care provided and to identify where changes may improve the experience of people using the service.
