People expressed their views and were involved in making decisions about their care and treatment. The practice regularly obtained the views of people using the service. We saw the results from a recent patient satisfaction survey which had surveyed 59 people. One person said they were “very impressed with the standard of staff and the practice.” Another said “dentist was very sympathetic.” Records we checked showed that people were given advice about the prognosis of their oral health, and guidance about improving and maintaining health. The practice facilities were clean and well maintained. There was dedicated hand washing facilities in the surgery rooms. Appropriate hand washing procedure was displayed over the sinks, and hand washing advice and facilities were available at reception. Appropriate checks had been undertaken before staff began work. We checked the files belonging to three of the eight staff employed at the practice. Each file contained evidence that the provider carried out background checks on staff before they commenced work. The practice had effective clinical governance processes in place to monitor the quality of the service. We saw regular audits in areas such as infection control, recall, record keeping and the environment. Where audits identified areas for improvement, action plans were devised and implemented.
