16th July 2013 - During a routine inspection

Regular services provided on the day of the inspection were chiropody, family planning, health trainer (supporting healthier lifestyles), specialist dental and emergency dental services. There was also an ad hoc vaccination against tuberculosis (TB) clinic.

We spoke with a variety of clinicians, health care professionals, administrative and housekeeping staff during the inspection. We also spoke with four mothers, one patient and, following the inspection, a care worker for people with learning disabilities who had frequently used the specialist dental service.

We found there was information available about all the services we looked at. All those who used the service told us they felt involved, well informed and able to decide on treatment. Patients were assessed for treatment and the records we looked at showed that this information, together with care and treatment, were clearly recorded. People told us that they were pleased with the care and treatment provided and could access the clinic and the various services.

We observed close team working between all the services and the clinic staff at the inspection. There was good communication and support offered. All the services worked with a variety of other disciplines and agencies. We saw evidence of shared information.

The clinic was clean and well managed infection control demonstrated. A variety of quality assurance processes were in place and changes in practice as a result of audits was described.
