21st November 2013 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

We spoke with two people who use the service, the dental nurse and dentist during this inspection.

People told us that they were satisfied with the services provided and said "the dentist explains everything", "the dentist makes you feel at ease", "the treatment plan is discussed and any options agreed", "the costs are made clear", "it is important to have a dentist you feel safe with" and "I have recommended the dentist to others, confident that he will treat them well". People said "the place is always clean" and "it's always spotlessly clean". People said staff maintained their privacy and said that they were treated respectfully.

Staff were happy to work at the surgery. They told us they had the necessary checks before they started work and had the training and support they needed to do their job.

We saw that the treatment room, decontamination room and reception area were clean and tidy. We observed that the nurse or dentist welcomed people when they arrived. The dentist took time to speak with people about what was being done and what they needed to do to maintain their oral hygiene. Improvements could be made to seeking people's views of the service and the regular testing of equipment.
